There are three kinds of licence that apply to operators in the Small Public Service Vehicle (SPSV) industry:
The SPSV Driver licence, which entitles the holder to drive any category of SPSV. A licence-holder driving a taxi is licensed to stand or ply for hire only in the county or counties for which they have been granted the licence.
The SPSV Vehicle licence, which permits the vehicle to be used as either a taxi, a hackney or a limousine.
The SPSV Dispatch operator licence, which permits the holder to take bookings for SPSV services and have those services provided by someone else.
